A SMALL INDEPENDENT BUSINESS
Officially opening its metaphorical doors in August 2014, Felicity Tran Bespoke Upholstery has no high street shop front but in true artisan style works from her home workshop. Going from strength to strength and having a change of premises in 2018 to accommodate a bigger workshop and also a growing family, FTBU now resides in a peaceful village in North Somerset, just a 20 minute jaunt south of Bristol. Felicity would like to thank her customers over the last 7 years and counting… for supporting her with repeat business and your upholstery projects and for supporting working mums in general…. It’s a tough gig sometimes!
MY APPROACH
As we each have our own physical characteristics, so does any piece of antique or modern furniture. No two chairs will be the same and this is respected in my work. Giving each piece the time and attention it requires, I love transforming a chair or sofa and lovingly giving it a new identity. I take great pride and pleasure in applying the craftsmanship of traditional upholstery techniques to modern furniture too, achieving the highest quaity finish.
MEET FELICITY
Having travelled the globe as a singer and performer in a not so past life, Felicity’s experience of and love for elegant, opulent interiors gradually inspired her passion for fine furniture and upholstery. Swapping sequins and lashes for sprung seats and lashing chord, in January 2014 she became a student at the excellent and very well renowned Traditional Upholstery Workshop in Carmarthenshire, West Wales, and the rest, as they say, is history….
With a degree in Fine Art and a diploma from The Traditional Upholstery Workshop, Carmarthenshire, Felicity will also advise and inspire to make your piece of furniture comfortable and beautiful again.
Dear Felicity
I have been given your name by my friend Annie Esler who you recently did some upholstery for . I live in Backwell and have two large sofas that are in need of recovering and perhaps some cushion replacement . I wonder if you would be able to give me an estimate for the cost of recovering . I have had them for 27 years and amazingly so they are still in reasonable condition with a bit of ‘cat ‘ damage . They are reasonably classic in style and I feel that recovering and with some cushion re upholstery is the way to go rather than replacing them . Who knows ? They may last another 27 years ! Would you be interested in giving me an estimate for the work involved.
