About Felicity Tran
Hi, Im Felicity, traditional Upholsterer and Seat Weaver, based in my Somerset workshop, for over 10 years.
Having travelled the globe as a singer and performer in a not so past life, my love for elegant, opulent interiors gradually inspired a passion for fine furniture and upholstery. Swapping sequins and lashes for sprung seats and lashing chord, in January 2014 I became a student at the well renowned Traditional Upholstery Workshop in Carmarthenshire, West Wales, and the rest, as they say, is history….
I have condensed everything I’ve learned over the years to make this lovely hands-on workshop day a joy to do. I’ve been running my Seagrass Weaving courses since December 2023 and I’ve been amazed at how popular they have become but also how much I get from teaching them!
My teaching style is friendly and engaging and I get a huge kick from seeing all of my attendees leave at the end of the day with a beautiful complete piece of furniture! I’m so excited to share all things Seagrass weaving with you in one of my small group workshops.
Posted on Brie WatsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently took a rush seating class and had a wonderful experience. The instruction was clear and patient, making what is a complex skill very approachable. I learned so much and felt confident working with the techniques by the end of the session. The hands-on approach really helped everything click, and I appreciated the personalised attention that comes with learning from someone who clearly has expertise and passion for the craft. I'd definitely recommend this class to anyone interested in learning rush seating - it was both educational and enjoyable. Fequesntly Asked Questions
Do I get to keep the footstool?
YES! And you will take it home completed at the end of the workshop.
I’ve seen that some of the footstools are different colours, how can I request that?
I offer 9 beautiful colour options as well as the frame being left in its natural beech wood. I paint these for you in advance of the course for an extra £10, please email your colour request to me as soon as you have chosen, i will try to accommodate a painted frame request up to the Wednesday before you workshop, but this depends on availability… be the early bird if possible!
Is Lunch provided as part of my ticket price?
Some of my venues offer a completely catered experience, and others provide tea/coffee/biscuits but you’ll need to bring your own lunch. Please read the info when booking which will specify this.
How long does the workshop take and do we have breaks?
The workshops run from 9.50 to 4pm, however we often over run a bit to get our footstools completed in the time frame. We usually stop at 1pm for a half an hour lunch break. Depending on your progress, you can take breaks whoever you like, just bear in mind this might affect the finishing time of the project.
I have booked my workshop but now can’t attend, what can I do?
Please get in touch with me directly as soon as possible by email to discuss.
